The 2020 Trockenbeerenauslese Grande Cuvee No 4, 60% Welschriesling and 40% Chardonnay, is pale lemon-straw in color. Notes of acacia honey, beeswax, candied ginger, and lemon tart jump from the glass with hints of orange peel and spice cake. Tasted with Gerhard Kracher at the offices of his Bordeaux courtier. This is the principle release on la place, with the other cuvées only available as part of the 2020 collection case. And it contains, this year, all of the Chardonnay – there is no monocépage Chardonnay TBA in this vintage. Tutankhamun gold in the glass. More closed on the nose initially than the 2019, tasted alongside, but so amazingly pure. Candlewax. Saffron. Pineapple. Pears rather than apricots this year, confit melon. A little ginger. A touch of spice – above all, cinnamon. Crème brulée and burnt sugar. Peanut brittle. Apple pie with the pie crust. Assorted citrus notes. Lime. This is just fabulously pure, incredibly crystalline and energetic and intensely saline. Sapid and fresh as ever. This seems to pick its fruit each year – here we have the pixilated picture perfect rendition of white pear! More herbal and saline on the finish, with that fabulous and distinctly ‘Kracher’ mineral character. A brilliantly exciting wine and a revelation. 98+ Colin Hay, The Drinks Business The 2020 Trockenbeerenauslese No. 4 Grande Cuvée Nouvelle Vague is based on 60% Welschriesling (vi nified in large oak casks) and 40% Chardonnay (aged in barriques) and opens with an intense and concentrated bouquet with spicy quince aromas, lemon chutney, candiedlemons, ripe and lush apri cots and pineapples, hints of nougat, caramel and salt. It is very deep and complex but also refined, fresh and very elegant! Round, intense and highly refined on the palate, this is a saline and elegant, seemingly weightless Grande Cuvée that develops a spectacularly long and intense finish with salts and concentrated fruits such as melons, apricots, lemons, quinces and grapefruit. The aftertaste is intense and very long but of great finesse and elegance. This is a gorgeous wine, indeed, that is stunning a day after the opening and will need about a decade or more to gain even more complexity. 10% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Leuchtendes Gelbgold. In der Nase feine nussige Noten, frische Orangenschalen, Macis, gelbe Pfirsichfrucht, feine Kräuterwu?rze, die mit Luft immer dunkler wird und Noten von feuchtem Stroh und Malz annimmt. Am Gaumen saftige gelbe Tropenfrucht, zart nach Maracuja und Ananas, stoffiger Körper, cremig und rund, sehr harmonisch und zugänglich, saftiges Marillenkonfit im Abgang, bereits gut antrinkbar und einsetzbar. 90/100 Falstaff/Peter Moser

Ein schöner Korb aus Beeren bietet sich in der Nase. Getrocknete Pflaumen, Kirsche und Erdbeeren finden sich im Mund wieder. Eine dezente rauchige Note kombiniert mit lang anhaltenden Tanninen macht den Wein schließlich komplett.

Attraktives traubiges Bukett, intensive Muskatnuss, florale Nuancen. Feine Grapefruitzesten und intensive Tropenfruchtaromen am Gaumen. Feine Tannine, gut integrierte Süße, zarte Honignoten im Nachhall.

Mittleres Gelbgold, in der Nase feine Anklänge von Rosen und Vanille, dennoch etwas verkapseltes Bukett, feuchte Wolle, der Traminercharakter ist im Duft nur angedeutet, am Gaumen sehr exotische Grapefruitzesten, herrlich eingewobene Restsüße, spielerisch wirkend, zeigt eine feine Säurestruktur, die dem Wein viel Lebendigkeit vermittelt. Sehr klares Finish, das das Holz gut zur Wirkung bringt, im Abgang wird auch das alkoholische Feuer spürbar. The tangy apple-scented 1999 #2 Traminer Nouvelle Vague Trockenbeerenauslese is a viscous, well-focused wine. A myriad of spices can be found intermingled with sour berries, apricots, and peaches in this medium to full-bodied, rich offering. It is concentrated, intense, and boisterous.
