Intense and sweet on the palate but with elegance and good freshness, this is a fine, well-balanced and charming blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Zweigelt. Good concentration and length. Aged in new barriques for 24-28 months, the 2020 Trockenbeerenauslese No. 5 Rosenmuskateller Nou velle Vague offers a clear, deep, intense and pure yet complex bouquet of blood oranges, roses, herbs, Italian salami, game, coffee, toast and nou gat and, initially, also sage and chamomile aromas intertwined with herbal tea, candied bitter oranges and buttery aromas. Round, sweet and lush on the palate,this is a noble, very elegant, dense, refined, fi nely tannic and persistently saline TBA with citrus-bit ters on the long, structured yet still very young finish. This is another great 2020 TBA from Gerhard Kracher! 9.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in Lütjen see, Hamburg, in June 2023. Tasted as a sample from the 1,000-liter oak vat, the apricot colored 2017 Welschriesling Trockenbeerenauslese 60th Anniversary is an homage to the early times when grapes for sweet wines were macerated for a day and kept on the full lees in large oak for almost a year. With yeasty aromas on the intense and concentrated nose of stewed apricots, this is a rich, lush, elegant, super dense and persistent TBA with great finesse and very fine tannins. This is a gorgeous, very long, fresh and complex yet filigreed TBA with beautifully salinity. 12% alcohol. A great new (old) style for Kracher. Tasted in Illmitz, December 2018. (WineAdvocate)
