2011 TBA No. 7 Scheurebe
Weinlaubenhof Kracher
Kracher TBA No. 7 Zwischen den Seen Scheurebe 2011 (Burgenland, Austria; 100% Scheurebe; 196.7 g/L of residual sugar; 9.5% alcohol). This too was aged in stainless steel, with 18 months of yeast contact. Scorched peach skin and baked peach flesh, candied apricot, a subtle rose petal note and burnt caramel and candyfloss. Rose Turkish delight and butterscotch, with just a hint of strawberry candy. This is quite classical in a way … at least aromatically. For, on the palate this blows you away with both the viscosity and the sheer impact of the vibrant acidity that pulses through this like the aftershocks of an earthquake. There’s incredible salinity here too, contributing to the visceral sense of viscosity in the mouth. Not for the first time with a Kracher Scheurebe, wow! 96. /100 by Colin Hay The Drinks Buisness
