Dunkles Bernstein bis Altgold. In der Nase außergewöhnliche Aromen von getrocknetem Cassis, Holunderblüte und Grapefruitschale. Diese Noten finden sich auch am Gaumen wieder begleitet von Kräutern und kandierten Zitrusfrüchten. Der Abgang ist leicht herb und würzig mit einer immer noch erfrischenden Salzigkeit.
Kracher TBA No. 8 Zwischen den Seen Welschriesling 2001 (Burgenland, Austria; 100% Welschriesling; 284 g/L of residual sugar; 8.5% alcohol). Fascinating and rather distinctive, with more herbal and floral elements than most of its peers. Eucalyptus, green and black leaf tea, jasmine and a distinctly bulbal floral note (iris bulbs perhaps) accompany the quince, green apple and darker berry fruit components. There’s a colossal step up in viscosity from the Grande Cuvée and just enough natural acidity and burnt sugar bitterness to cope with that incredible richness.
