In der Nase vielschichtig, fast schon ätherisch. Getrocknete Orangen- und Mandarinenzesten sowie Muskat, kandierter Ingwer und etwas Rosmarin. Am Gaumen getrocknete Aprikose, Feige, intensive Aromen von lang gereiften Früchten. Der Abgang ist sehr präzise und hallt lang nach mit einer leichten Salzigkeit und feiner Bitterorange im Nachhall.
Kracher TBA No. 2 Zwischen den Seen Muskat Ottonel 2001 (Burgenland, Austria; 100% Muskat Ottonel; 210.9 g/L of residual sugar; 9.5% alcohol). This is simply divine aromatically and something of a contrast to the Traminer cuvée no. 1, with red berry fruits, apricot and nectarine the first notes to soar unsolicited from the glass (there’s no need to aerate or swirl). There’s fresh ginger and galangal too and a subtle hint of sesame seed. But it is the candied rose petal and rose Turkish delight on the palate that I perhaps love most of all, with hints of burnt caramel and green leaf tea.
