Dichtes dunkles Gold bis Bernstein mit leicht bronzenen Reflexen. In der Nase ist er samtig. Noten von karamellisiertem Apfel, Quittenpaste sowie ein Hauch Orangenschale und Waldhonig. Am Gaumen zeigt sich dieser Chardonnay opulent, Honignoten, kandiertes Steinobst, Nuss und eine salzige Würze. Der Abgang wird sanft umrahmt von Karamell und einer dezenten Bitterkeit, die sich im Finale durch Mandeln und Orangenzesten zeigt.
Kracher TBA No. 3 Nouvelle Vague Chardonnay 2001 (Burgenland, Austria; 100% Chardonnay; 194 g/L of residual sugar; 10.4% alcohol). Never before have I experienced so much botrytis character in a pure Chardonnay wine – it’s wondrous. We have a lovely walnut nuttiness to this alongside dried petals, bracken and forest floor notes. With aeration the florality become fresher as is the dried petals spring back to life . There are dessert apples wilted in the finest butter, a little quince compote (with some of its texture on the palate) and even a hint of tarte au rhubarb (tarte tatin with rhubarb replacing the apples). Pure, elegant, refined and quite narrow in frame in comparison with the others. Distinctive and distinctly lovely. 93. /100 by Colin Hay The Drinks Buisness
