Sehr kraftvoller Körper, sehr fruchtig im Geschmack, typische Mineralik der Lage Hochberg am Gaumen, allgemen harmonisch Tasted from the bottle, the 2015 Blaufränkisch Passion offers a deep, pure, fresh, polished and well-concentrated bouquet of dark cherries and berries intertwined with spicy/toasty notes of nougat, roasted chestnut and warm stones. Full-bodied, lush and very charming on the palate, this is an elegant, juicy, textured and beautifully aromatic red with fine tannins, good freshness and a stimulating finish. Tasted in Illmitz, December 2018. 91/100 The Wine Advocate / Stephan Reinhardt

2028-2048 96/100 Yves Beck This great TBA is a dazzling essence of tropical fruits with a freshness that’s totally invigorating, so why not accept it's invitation to dance the tango with it? Fabulously fine texture right through the super-long, uplifting finale. Delicate notes of fresh ginger and shiso leaf develop. 97/100 Stuart Pigott Subtle and elegant, a little restrained and introvert at first, with delicate fresh ginger and pineapple accompanied by lanolin and apricot, candied orange and confit figs. Rich and full, dense and oily in the mouth with a more ample frame than the Zweigelt Cuvée No. 2 tasted just before. Exotic and nutty in equal measure. Long and gently tapering on the finish. 2028-2053 98/100 Yves Beck Mind-blowing concentration of the ripest possible quince is married to a brilliant acidity and a mille feuille-like structure. Even in this extremely youthful form the wine is a wonder to behold thanks to the extraordinary harmony. Almost endless finish. Gigantic aging potential. 98/100 Stuart Pigott Gosh, this is utterly divine. So pure, so crystalline and luminous aromatically with an incredibly well-defined, pixilated and detailed image of fresh, perfectly ripe, pineapple, with a little fresh ginger. Maybe a hint of sushi ginger too, but it’s the fresher notes that dominate. There’s a subtle hint, too, of butterscotch and the bitterness of torched sugar – but it’s incredible subtly such that the fresh fruit is the star of the show. And I adore the lanolin note. Rich, complex, tactile and racy in its acidity despite the viscosity, density and sucrosity (super-well disguised by nearly 7 g/litre of total acidity). A brilliant wine that only Kracher could produce. The salinity on the finish is exquisite. A real coup de coeur. Taste and believe (please)! 99 Colin Hay Leuchtendes mittleres Goldgelb, Silberreflexe. 2030-2053 97/100 Yves Beck Exquisite tropical fruit coulis character is married to caramel richness, toasty oak, citrus freshness and serious power without the result becoming a jot too much. Very long and creamy finish, but there’s enough positive energy to lift it, pulling you back for more decadence. A cuvée of Welschriesling and Chardonnay produced since 1991. 97/100 Stuart Pigott I tasted this before discovering the level of residual sugar – it would be impossible to guess. Brilliantly and staggeringly fresh. So pure too. Crab apple and a little pêche de vigne, white pear. A subtle hint of burnt sugar bitterness. Mandarin zest. Confit rose petal. A hint of fresh ginger and the additional lift that suggests. Delicate in the mouth at first, subtle and tender, so soft and densely textured – here like the flesh of the ripest peach. A study in fruit purity as ever. Often Kracher’s grands cuvees are racier and more vibrant, this is more relaxed and brilliantly harmonious. Fabulous. 99 Colin Hay Leuchtendes mittleres Goldgelb, Silberreflexe. 27 Monate Reifung in neuen Fässern. Jetzt bis 2050 97/100 Yves Beck Gloopy and syrupy in texture with the ‘clairet’ hue matched by the pêche de vigne and gentle red berry fruit aromatics. One notices the wild strawberry at first but then, as ever with Kracher cuvées, the freshness and structuring acidity announces itself, here with subtle notes of pink gooseberry and redcurrant. There’s the faintest hint of cinnamon too. On the palate there’s a fantastic grappling contest between the richness and viscosity on the one hand and the very tactile, almost physical, tension brought by the natural acidity. Clove, cinnamon (again) and now gently softened crab apple. Fascinating and complex, the extraordinary levels of residual sugar effortlessly disguised, above all on the pulsatingly fresh finish. 96+. Colin Hay If a cook can manage to achieve this kind of harmony of rose petal, violet, dried strawberry, cinammon and forest honeyed character together with this sensational freshness then he would become world famous! Here it is in a bottle and with this combination of vibrancy and concentration the result is totallyextraordinary! The crimson-colored 2022 Trockenbeerenauslese No 1 Zweigelt Nouvelle Vague is deep, intense and refined on the nose that is still a little untamed but shows fresh red berry and floral aromas intermingled with saline notes. The wine is rich and intense, remarkably concentrated and reveals sustainable salinity and mineral tension on the long and complex, vital finish that also reveals fine but structuring tannins, which make this TBA an excellent wine to pair with food, especially after 10 to 20 years. By Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate Bright, blood red in the glass. Red apple, some bitter lemon and grapefruit touches, lifted zesty lemon and bright acidity makes this tangy yet sweet - a great combination that is so drinkable and enjoyable. Super impressive. Some bitter touches alongside the creamy, visovus texture. It manages to weave vibrancy with structure and intensity but keeping a lifted frame and moreish quality. Have with food. One of five wines in the line up, from the outstanding 2022 vintage, entering the Place de Bordeaux this September. Director and winemaker Gerhard Kracher. Georgina Hindle, Decanter Peach and pear belle Helene. Already quite a lot of sugar. A hint of raspberry too and, strangely perhaps, childhood memories of Ribena. Relatively simple as these wines go, though with that characteristic Kracher purity and freshness. When re-tasted it’s the raspberry and, again, the cassis cordial that one really hones in on. Saline as ever with a lovely and distinct minerality, here just a little oyster shell but also a subtle hint of salted roasted macademia nuts. With aeration the acidity seems to mount and it reins in the sugar. I think this will age very well, but at the moment it hasn’t fully come together. 95/100 Punkte. By Willi Balanjuk A la Carte The 2022 Zweigelt TBA No. 1 Nouvelle Vague Kollektion was aged in new oak and shines with a smoky, translucent red color. Caramelized, juicy plum appears subtly on the nose, followed by creaminess. That same creaminess acts as a balm on the concentrated palate, where superb sweetness flows. This is ultra-concentrated and subtly flavored, a picture of plum compote with a lovely cinnamon edge. Everything about this wine is calm, smooth and soothing. Wonderful and almost psychedelic. Vinified in stainless steel, the golden-yellow 2022 Trockenbeerenauslese No 2 Welschriesling Zwischen den Seen is superbly precise and concentrated on the nose that displays perfectly ripe, yellow botrytis fruit with beautiful lemon nuances intermingled with saline and herbal tea notes. The wine is rich but highly finessed and elegant on the palate, beautifully balanced and mouthfilling, Savory as it is, the wine develops a subtle intensity without power or overconcentration. It is full of finesse and brightness yet also this characteristic salinity that makes Kracher's wines so irresistible. This is a fabulous, very sustainable and gastronomic TBA that no wine lover would want to put down the glass. In any case, the drinking speed is likely to be quite high, and the finish is the longest of the 2022 collection. By Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate Lively and bright, this has a gorgeous playful aspect with pineapple and peach and biting acidity that cuts through some of the sweetness. Rich and intense yet delineated, precise, finessed and elegant. Citrus fruit, saline notes and savoury touches of vanilla, white chocolate and dried herbs. I like this a lot, lifted and pure with plenty going on. Thick and viscous but keeps a sherbet, citrus kick on the back which makes it so fun and approachable. Totally yum. A marvelous wine. One of five wines in the line up, from the outstanding 2022 vintage, entering the Place de Bordeaux this September. Director and winemaker Gerhard Kracher. Georgina Hindle, Decante Helles goldgelb; intensives vielschichtiges Bukett; Aromen von Maracuja, Blütenhonig und Verbene; kräftig, engmaschige Struktur; Kumquats und Mandeln im Finish; fruchtiger, balancierter Schmelz im Abgang; langer Nachhall; Marillen und Minze im Rückaroma. 95+/100 Punkte. By Willi Balanjuk A la carte Apple. Pure and simple. Granny Smith. But with a red apple skin too. A little white pear. Peanut brittle and salt. Pure, simple – a little like the cuvée no. 1 – but with more obvious potential (though both will age very gracefully and gain in complexity). There’s a fascinating hint of greenery here – part floral, part herbal, part almost grassy – and it breathes freshness into this in a most beguiling way. Fresh ginger too. I love that very Kracher peanut brittle note. Gorgeous, though once again at this stage the residual sugar slightly triumphs on the palate over the acidity (less of an issue, ironically, with the higher number – i.e.: higher residual sugar – cuvées). 95+/100 Colin Hay | The Drinks Business Die vielen Nuancen unterstreichen sofort die olfaktorische Komplexität dieses Weins. Yves Beck The 2022 Welschriesling TBA No. 2 Zwischen den Seen Kollektion is golden in color and unites blossom honey with candied lemon and grapefruit peel. Overtones of candied kumquat appear later, adding a spicy and thrilling dimension. The palate is intensely sweet, reminiscent of Mirabelle jelly edged with perfectly candied grapefruit peel. Peppery, citric and pure, it is thrilling, endlessly long and utterly luscious. Jetzt bis 2050 97/100 Yves Beck Tutankhamun gold, with all the class and opulence that suggests. White pear, crab apple, Mirabelle plum, a little hint of acacia wood, beeswax and a delicate wild spring florality. This is by some distance the most substantial and the most viscous in texture of the series (even if the level of residual sugar is only a notch above cuvées 5 and 6). It’s also the wine you’d probably wish to hold the longest before opening, with the wood still in need of a little time fully to incorporate. A study, once again, in the purity of the fruit expression and the energy that can still be extracted at over 200 grammes per litre of residual sugar. Wow! 97. Colin Hay Kräftiges Goldgelb, Silberreflexe. Mit dezenter Holzwürze unterlegte gelbe Tropenfrucht, reife Ananas und Papaya, Blütenhonig unterlegt, kandierte Orangenzesten, facettenreiches, attraktives Bukett. Stoffig, präsente Süße, eine zarte karamellige Komponente, eingebundene Holzaromen, feine salzige Nuancen, zitroniger Touch, sehr gute Länge und Balance, zeigt noch etwas Babyspeck, sicheres Entwicklungspotenzial. 98/100 Peter Moser/Falstaff Enormously concentrated and enormously Chardonnay, this is my best nobly sweet wine ever from this grape variety! Very compact and creamy, but also so luscious and lively it’s hard to tear yourself away! The finish so exciting, because of the way that the characteristic tannin of Chardonnay is married to floral honey richness. This is a bit like a steamroller at the finish, but it's the most elegant steamroller in the world!

The 2022 Trockenbeerenauslese No 3 Grande Cuvée Nouvelle Vague is a deep, complex, very elegant and refined, saline blend of Welschriesling and Chardonnay vinified in barriques for 30 months. Lemon rind and chutney aromas intermingle with oak, vanilla and bright toast aromas. The wine is generous and rich yet highly refined and elegant on the palate, provided with concentrated and sweet fruit, very fine tannins and this saline and crystalline acidity that is so delicate that it takes this sweet wine on its wings toward heaven. Due to its balance, this is an irresistible though pretty sweet TBA that I would thus cellar for another decade to benefit from all its complexity without being detracted from its now prominent sweetness. By Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate Green apple, pear and pineapple, a little more subdued than the other two so far, even though it has pronounced sweetness. That said, this is lighter and more easy going, easier to drink perhaps or more versatile, but still with a silkiness and depth that is so remarkable with freshness and purity despite the sugariness. Gorgeous, peach and pear, creamy lemon, some vanilla and lemon verbena with wisps of sea salt acidity. Divine. 181.7g/l residual sugar. One of five wines in the line up, from the outstanding 2022 vintage, entering the Place de Bordeaux this September. Director and winemaker Gerhard Kracher. Georgina Hindle, Decanter The saline minerality immediately evident aromatically. This is more complex that the other cuvées and more evidently a wine of assemblage. That glorious slightly grilled, slightly charred pineapple note. Lime zest. Salted peanut brittle, again. Wild field honey. Pear. Peach belle Helene. Confit and fresh ginger. Toffee apple. Lanolin. On the palate this is not quite as viscous as it sometimes is, but that somehow gives more space for the fresh fruits to present themselves. It’s a little like the most wonderful fruit cocktail in a rich slightly burnt caramel syrup – one encounters the fresh and acidic fruits from a sea of richer, fuller and sweeter notes. Fresh pineapple with aeration in the mouth, and a little sesame seed. Great tension, as that implies, an impressive amplitude too and a kind of calm tranquillity despite the profound sense of energy and vibrancy. A little hint of coconut on the finish and ginger ale in the empty glass. The Drinks Business, Colin Hay Goldgelbe Farbe; komplexes Bukett; kandierte Orange, Blütenhonig, Nektarine; saftiger Wein; animierender Trinkfluss; gelber Pfirsich und Karamell im Abgang; zarter Gerbstoff; sehr langer Nachhall; Kumquats und Pfirsich im Rückaroma; hohes Potenzial. 97/100 Punkte. By Willi Balanjuk. Yves Beck The 2022 Grande Cuvée Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) No. 3 Nouvelle Vague Kollektion is a blend of 60% Chardonnay, fermented in new barrique, and 40% Welschriesling, fermented in a new 1,000-liter barrel. Candied lemon and lemon-infused honey are supple on the nose, slowly revealing their toasted hazelnut creaminess. The palate delivers full, smooth, immersive and multi-dimensional creaminess. Lemon notes persist throughout, while the wine remains sonorous, rich, exquisite, pure and remarkably smooth. Whoa. The 2006 #4 Chardonnay Trockenbeerenauslese Nouvelle Vague offers aromas and flavors of grilled pineapple, spiced apple, banana, and orange and vanilla cream. Yet for all of its gaudy side, and its honeyed botrytis and new wood patina, this also displays almost a Burgundian side of its grape, in its notes of toasted hazelnuts and wheat germ. Texturally, though, the impression here is more of juiciness and polish than of creaminess. In a remarkable display of self-sufficiency of which Chardonnay was memorably capable in Kracher’s hands, this multi-faceted elixir remains bright and refreshing, checking its sweetness before residual sugar can throw a blanket over a long finish that is spicy and invigorating. 93/100 The Wine Advocate / David Schildknecht

The pale green-gold color of Kracher’s 2006 #5 Scheurebe Trockenbeerenauslese Zwischen den Seen is an omen. Seldom has Scheurebe displayed so refined and ethereal an aromatic concentration of herbs and flowers: catnip, thyme, chamomile and borage rather than the more usual sage and its coarsely pungent flower. Buoyant, sleek, and cucumber-cool on the palate, with lemon and white grapefruit balancing its honeyed sweetness, this finishes strikingly long on invigorating, mouth-cleansing refreshment. A joy to drink now on its own, it will be fascinating to follow – and perhaps cautiously apply at the table – over the next 5-6 years. 94/100 The Wine Advocate / David Schildknecht

Notions of ripe black plum and black cherry come with a faint notion of tar on the brooding nose. The palate comes in with absolute concentration and real intent. The tannins, stuctured and fine, have begun to resolve but leave no doubt about the absolute backbone. This is a big, bold and also elegant wine that is just becoming approachable and will continue to evolve. (WineEnthusiast)

The 2022 Trockenbeerenauslese No 4 Scheurebe Zwischen den Seen is brilliant clear, intense and elegant, offering notes of Moroccan peppermint, dark chocolate, crushed salt, nettles and passion fruit. Very clear, vital and savory on the palate, this is an elegant and playful, perfectly balanced TBA with clear and elegant fruit and a richness that is uplifted by the fine, crystalline acidity. The wine, which has been vinified in stainless steel for nearly 30 months, develops a long and aromatic finish. It can easily be drunk today but also be aged for decades. By Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate Intense and vibrant from the off - orange and pineapple nose, baked and in a pie, not bitter or fresh more ripe. Chocolate, exotic mango and pineapple, just amazingly sweet though, a hint of sherbet-edged acidity gives the lift but the focus here is the rich fruit and heavenly sugar content. Well constructed and so full of enjoyment. Despite the concentration there's brightness, energy and purity of fruit among the sweetness. One of five wines in the line up, from the outstanding 2022 vintage, entering the Place de Bordeaux this September. Incredible. Director and winemaker Gerhard Kracher. Georgina Hindle , Decanter Helles goldgelb; ausgeprägtes vielschichtiges Fruchtspiel; Passionsfrucht, Pfirsich, Holunderblüte; lebendiger, fruchtiger Trinkfluss; fein verwobene Restsüße; Blütenhonig und Marille im Rückaroma; Riesenpotenzial. 97/100 Punkte. The 2022 Scheurebe Trockenbeerenauslese No. 4 Zwischen den Seen Kollektion is a killer from the start, with superbly aromatic candied lemon and lemon il soaring from the glass. The fire-red brick-colored 2022 Trockenbeerenauslese No 5 Rosenmuskateller Nouvelle Vague is a beautiful rarity that intermingles very fine oak, toast and nougat aromas with notes of candied cherries, red berries, flowers, nutmeg and pencil shavings. On the palate, this is a generously sweet but refined and elegant, almost weightless TBA whose richness is enormous but uplifted by salinity, delicate acidity and filigreed tannins. The finish is very long and savory and promises great aging capacity. This is the sweetest TBA of the vintage, but it's never clumsy or saturating. We just need to give it time. By Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate A wonderful dark red colour in the glass. Wow incredible nose, blood orange rind and gorgeously perfumed pot pour - incredibly floral. Filling but so smooth and effortless, silky, this is dangerously drinkable with a lovely slightly orange juice element alongside a nougat, nutty sugary peach and pear succulence. Rich, sweet, thick, weighty but refined too and lifted by threads of delicious salty acidity. The highest level of residual sugar in the five-wine line up, from the outstanding 2022 vintage, entering the Place de Bordeaux this September. Incredible. Director and winemaker Gerhard Kracher. Georgina Hindle, Decanter Not unlike no. 1 but with almost twice as much residual sugar. Raspberry puree. Almost too much. Yves Beck The 2022 Rosenmuskateller TBA No. 5 Nouvelle Vague shows a smoky, translucent red color. Smokey aromas wrap around dried rose petals and baked damson plums. The palate is beautifully scented and does justice to the variety's name with wonderful rose oil overtones, flowing with concentration yet remaining nimble. Layer upon layer of plums and cherries unfold, revealing ever greater sweetness and freshness. What a marvel, what a beauty, what exquisiteness.

The green-gold-glinting 2006 #7 Welschriesling Trockenbeerenauslese Zwischen den Seen is another of Kracher’s testimonies to the potential of that ubiquitous and much unloved Central European grape variety. Scents of grilled pineapple, passion fruit, spruce resin, and browned sugar lead to a thickly-rich yet invigoratingly pungent and resinous palate, and the hugely-honeyed finish pulls up just short of becoming cloying. I would plan on revisiting this in several years. It will certainly be capable of holding up to a decade of cellaring, though whether any complexities gained will justify that, only time can tell us. Long-time readers know that I can be hard on Kracher’s Traminer TBAs because this naturally low-acid grape has trouble dealing with the huge levels of residual sugar they impose on it. 92/100 The Wine Advocate / David Schildknecht

2021 Beerenauslese Cuvee Magnum The 2021 Rosenmuskateller Beerneauslese is a pale, amber-tinged red. This contains shriveled, dried berries without botrytis as well as botrytised fruit. Candied petals of Damask rose shimmer on the nose, trailing aromatic red fruit like rosehip and pomegranate. The palate is fully sweet and viscous, with a lovely web of tannins and a gorgeous tone of treacle that is brightened by that tart, red aromatic fruit and candied blood orange. The 2021 is layered, superbly aromatic, always with the haunting sensation of rose petals. This wine is alluring, beguiling, unusual and rare, with exquisite balance and superb freshness. 96/100 Vinous
