Medium golden yellow colour. Delicately smoky, vegetal fruit, good hints of Tramineran in view of the high gradation. Clearly dominated by wood on the palate, still a little tattered at the moment. Rich in extract and long, needs a lot of time and patience, mineral and finely flavoured, will probably need a few years to consolidate. Kracher’s 2004 No 8 Traminer Trockenbeerenauslese Nouvelle Vague is impressively-scented with candied rose petal and violets, spiced lychee, and vanilla. At only 9.5% alcohol, and given its low acidity, this T.B.A. is struggling a bit to deal with its 239 grams of residual sugar and an overtly resinous note of new wood. Strong golden yellow colour. Elegant grapey nuances, fresh mandarin zest, fine vegetal notes, a hint of gooseberries. Juicy apricot fruit on the palate, wonderful stone fruit flavours, racy acidity, very fruit-dominated broad aromas, shows good length. Something for Riesling fans.
