2019 Grüner Veltliner Single Vineyard
From Pulkau and aged for 4.5 years in a large stück oak vat, the 2019Grüner Veltliner Single Vineyard shows an intense yellow color with a greenish hue. The nose is spectacularly complex, very elegant and refined yet dense and far from being just fruity. On the palate, this is a seamless, refined and highly elegant Veltliner that's everything but Veltliner. The 2019 is full-bodied, elegant and entirely driven by its terroir. The finish is intense, dense and juicy, refined and saline. This is the greatest Veltliner I have ever tasted from the Weinviertel. (Wine Advocate) Fantastic maturing nose of candied citrus peel, caramelized pears, toasted nuts, floral honey and mushrooms. The textural complexity of the medium- to full-bodied palate is no less exciting. I love the interplay of delicate candied fruit character and mineral acidity in the long, super-elegant finish. Drink or hold. 95/100 Stuart Pigott - jamessuckling.com From very old vines in the Pulkautal/Weinviertel and aged on the fine lees in a single 1,000-liter Slawonian oak foudre for four years, the 2019 Grüner Veltliner Single Vineyard opens with a deep, clear and elegant, refined and spicy bouquet of ripe yellow fruits. Full-bodied, rich and elegant on the palate, this is a powerful and quite mighty, forceful Veltliner with ripe acidity, fine tannins yet also some bitters and not the energy of the St Georg Veltiner. It's impressive yet less. 14% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in May 2024. - The Wine Advocate, 94/100 Reviewed by: Stephan Reinhardt

A rich and very complex, full-bodied dry white that has a Burgundian textural complexity, but also a very Austrian character. I love the interplay of toasted nut, dry straw and floral honey aromas with the flint and lentil notes. Long, complete finish. Still youthful for five years of age. Drink or hold. 95/100 Stuart Pigott - jamessuckling.com Aged for four years in barriques and 1,000-liter foudres, the 2019 Grüner Veltliner St. Georg is from Muschelkalk and slate soils in Sankt Georgen, Leithaberg. The intensely yellow-colored wine opens with a deep, rich and intense, elegant, tropical but also yeasty bouquet. Full-bodied, rich and powerful on the palate, this is an elegant, refined, seamlessly textured St Georgen with intense and lush tropical fruit but also the nervy and refreshing lemony/chalky character of the site. This is not only the greatest wine from friends Aldo Sohm and Gerhard Krachher but also a highlight in the white wine canon of the Burgenland. 13.5% stated alcohol.
This sophisticated gruner veltliner is floral, herbal and delicately peppery, with a wonderfully elegant palate where the power and concentration are deftly underplayed. Very long, wet-stone finish with just a hint of fresh butter. Drink or hold. 94/100 Stuart Pigott - jamessuckling.com The 2023 Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben is from five vineyards, all with 25- to 45-year-old vines in the Pulkau Valley, Weinviertel. Vinified in stainless steel and old barrels for eight months, the nose is intense and yeasty as well as pure and mineral, opening to ripe white seed fruit aromas. Full-bodied, still tight and for the moment a bit muted due to the recent bottling, this is an elegant, well balanced and discreetly phenolic Veltliner after the overnight maceration. The finish is still a bit dryish at this stage, thus a rather conservative score. The wine has energy and savoriness and a long, tense finish, but it still doesn't sing. 13% stated alcohol.
