Aged in new barriques for 24-28 months, the 2020 Trockenbeerenauslese No. 5 Rosenmuskateller Nou velle Vague offers a clear, deep, intense and pure yet complex bouquet of blood oranges, roses, herbs, Italian salami, game, coffee, toast and nou gat and, initially, also sage and chamomile aromas intertwined with herbal tea, candied bitter oranges and buttery aromas. Round, sweet and lush on the palate,this is a noble, very elegant, dense, refined, fi nely tannic and persistently saline TBA with citrus-bit ters on the long, structured yet still very young finish. This is another great 2020 TBA from Gerhard Kracher! 9.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in Lütjen see, Hamburg, in June 2023. Medium brick red colour, delicate touch of ochre. Fine citrus and orange zest on the nose, subtle hints of red berries, delicate tobacco touch. Rather restrained bouquet overall. Fresh on the palate, very lively structure, fresh heart cherries, delicate gingerbread notes of piement and aniseed, complex, soft, silky tannins, already easy to drink, fresh plums on the finish. At 13% alcohol, and with Riesling-like acidity, it’s no wonder that despite 168 grams of residual sugar, Kracher’s 2004 #1 Zweigelt Trockenbeerenauslese Nouvelle Vague is notable for how little sweetness it displays. This tawny-colored libation drinks like a liqueur of candied blood orange and tangerine rind, cinnamon, and dried cherries. For all of its lushness of texture and its alcohol, it gives a light and very frisky account of itself, and the clean meatiness and leathery notes that emerge with increasing prominence the longer the wine warms in its glass, hold a fascination akin to that of red Burgundy. The liqueur-like finish is nonetheless refreshing, and rendered more so by a subtly saline streak. 92/100 The Wine Advocate David Schildknecht

Deep ruby colour, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Ripe cherry fruit, a hint of dark berries, floral nuances of hibiscus. Medium complexity, red berry texture, fresh structure, subtle berry sweetness on the finish, already accessible.
Tasted as a filtered sample in December 2018, the 2016 Blend 2 Trocken offers an elegant and buttery bouquet of dark and red berries and cherries along with cassis, tobacco and toasty aromas. Intense and sweet on the palate but with elegance and good freshness, this is a fine, well-balanced and charming blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Zweigelt.
