1999 TBA No. 2 Traminer

Weinlaubenhof Kracher , Österreich
Medium yellow gold, fine hints of roses and vanilla on the nose, yet a somewhat encapsulated bouquet, damp wool, the Traminer character is only hinted at in the fragrance, very exotic grapefruit zest on the palate, wonderfully interwoven residual sweetness, playful, shows a fine acid structure that gives the wine a lot of liveliness. Very clear finish that brings out the wood well, the alcoholic fire is also noticeable on the finish.

The tangy apple-scented 1999 No Traminer Nouvelle Vague Trockenbeerenauslese is a viscous, well-focused wine. A myriad of spices can be found intermingled with sour berries, apricots, and peaches in this medium to full-bodied, rich offering. It is concentrated, intense, and boisterous. Drink it over the next 20-25 years.

2017 Blend II
Deep ruby colour, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Ripe cherry fruit, a hint of dark berries, floral nuances of hibiscus. Medium complexity, red berry texture, fresh structure, subtle berry sweetness on the finish, already accessible. Tasted as a filtered sample in December 2018, the 2016 Blend 2 Trocken offers an elegant and buttery bouquet of dark and red berries and cherries along with cassis, tobacco and toasty aromas. Intense and sweet on the palate but with elegance and good freshness, this is a fine, well-balanced and charming blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Zweigelt. 2020 TBA No. 3 Scheurebe
Fermented for several months and aged for about two years or more in stainless steel tanks, the 2020 Trockenbeerenauslese No. 3 Scheurebe Zwischen den Seen opens with a clear, intensely aromatic and fruitdriven bouquet of passion fruit, lemons and grapefruits as well as candied pineapples, mango and maracuja. Dense, lush and round on the pala te, this is a sweet and intense but savory, lively, very elegant and tropical TBA with typical Scheurebe features and a stimulatingly tart and bitter finish. The terroir salinity is still very discreet but palatable on the finish. The wine is really sweet on the palate but also balanced and even delicate. It will gain enormous complexity over the next 20-25 years and become more of a terroir wine than a Scheurebe varietal wine. 10.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in Lütjensee, Hamburg, in June 2023. To be released in mid-September 2023. 96/100 Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate Kräftiges Goldgelb, Silberreflexe. 96/100 Peter Moser, Falstaff Weinguide 2023/24
