2004 TBA No. 8 Traminer
Medium golden yellow colour. Delicately smoky, vegetal fruit, good hints of Tramineran in view of the high gradation. Clearly dominated by wood on the palate, still a little tattered at the moment. Rich in extract and long, needs a lot of time and patience, mineral and finely flavoured, will probably need a few years to consolidate. Kracher’s 2004 No 8 Traminer Trockenbeerenauslese Nouvelle Vague is impressively-scented with candied rose petal and violets, spiced lychee, and vanilla. At only 9.5% alcohol, and given its low acidity, this T.B.A. is struggling a bit to deal with its 239 grams of residual sugar and an overtly resinous note of new wood. Candied flowers and cinnamon candy linger. 89/100 The Wine Advocate / David Schildknecht

2004 TBA No. 7 Welschriesling
Strong golden yellow colour. Intense honey note, fine tobacco spice, juicy stone fruit flavours, a hint of grapefruit zest. Powerful on the palate, juicy nougat tone, white-peppery nuances, some tea and spices, completely coats the palate, an opulent wine that perfectly represents the vintage, great length, very good development potential. The 2004 #7 Welschriesling Trockenbeerenauslese "Zwischen den Seen" displays the glazed pineapple and candied lemon aspects of this variety, beginning with its mouthwatering aromas, continuing onto a palate of startling viscosity and palpable richness, and carrying into a finish whose 246 grams of residual sugar are very much evident, but which still stays succulent and fresh. Time will bring considerably more complexity to this T.B.A., as well as of course slim it down a bit, lower the perceived sweetness level, and bring an as yet subtle note of caramel to the fore.93/100 The Wine Advocate / David Schildknecht

60 Years Anniversary TBA
The apricot-coloured 2017 Welschriesling Trockenbeerenauslese 60th Anniversary, which was tasted as a sample from the 1,000-litre oak barrel, is a tribute to the early days when the grapes for sweet wines were crushed for one day and stored on the full lees in large oak for almost a year. With yeasty aromas on the intense and concentrated nose, reminiscent of stewed apricots, this is a rich, lush, elegant, very dense and persistent TBA with great finesse and very fine tannins. A marvellous, very long, fresh, complex yet delicate TBA with a beautiful salinity. 12% alcohol. A great new (old) style for Kracher. Tasted in Illmitz, December 2018 (WineAdvocate)
